The Chapel Farm Original 20 is an all-round totally balanced diet that is suitable for feeding all breeds of working or companion dog. This is the food we recommend using during rest periods when the dogs are not working or training as hard which we have been feeding at the Buccleuch Gundog Kennels for the last five years. We recommend this variety of the range for feeding all athletic types of dogs, including gundogs, working and pastoral breeds.

The Original 20% is rich in chicken and whole grains that provide the foundation of your dog’s diet. The chicken content is an excellent source of protein and contains higher levels of protein as the water weight of the chicken has been removed. Not only do the grains used provide carbohydrates and numerous vitamins and minerals, but they are also an excellent source of protein.

The Scottish Salmon oil is rich in Omega 3 an essential fatty acid which is useful for the development of brains and bones in younger dogs It can be helpful as an anti-inflammatory supplement for arthritic dogs and may also assist in keeping the brain functioning sharp in ageing dogs. It is recommended for dogs with skin allergies to help various skin conditions heal faster. Some researchers claim that salmon oil appears to slow cancer cell growth and helps dogs to maintain their weight.

Essential fatty acids are fundamentally important for dogs as they play a major role in the maintenance of healthy coat, skin, nails and many important biological functions in the body. Essential fatty acids are obtained exclusively through dietary intake, therefore the health of dogs, is dependent on obtaining enough essential fatty acids in the food we give them.

The added beet pulp is a very gentle, beneficial insoluble source of fibre that is not only generally very well tolerated but also has specific properties that make it suitable as a source of nutrition for the beneficial bacteria that reside in the intestinal tract. Beet pulp adds bulk and moisture to animal stools and provides an energy source that can improve the health of the colon. Slow to moderately fermentable fibre sources, like beet pulp, are often recommended as one of the best sources of fibre for dogs.
